Obninsk
Obninsk is a city in Kaluga Oblast of Russia, 102 km south-west of Moscow. Population: 108,000. It is one of the major Russian science cities. The first nuclear reactor in the World for the large scale production of electricity opened here on June 27th, 1954. Now the city is home to 12 scientific research institutes, their main activities are nuclear power engineering, radiation technology, medical radiology, meteorology.
