O Estado de São Paulo logo.

The newspaper "O Estado de São Paulo" (The State of São Paulo) is a Brazilian newspaper located in São Paulo.

The newspaper was founded on January 4, 1875 by 16 people joined together by Manuel Ferraz de Campos Sales and Américo Brasiliense. The objective was the creation of a Republican diary against the Monarchy and Slavery. The idea surged during a Republican Convention in Itu. At that the time the newspaper name was "A Província de São Paulo" (The Province of São Paulo).

The newspaper changed the former name to the present name "O Estado de São Paulo" on December 31, 1889.
