Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance
Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance is a non-scholarly website dedicated to promoting religious tolerance.
According to its creators[1], the website was started on 1995 to counter a perceived lack of information on religious tolerance on the world wide web. As of 2005, it contains over 2700 essays on a variety of topics including world religions, morality, spirituality, religious intolerance, new religious movements, and others.
The page attempts to present the essays using a neutral point of view[2], and largely succeeds in so doing. An argument could be raised, though, that the site errs on the side of caution too much in the pursuit of its goal of tolerance, though this claim is hard to corroborate or deny. The purpose of such a website, of course, is to offer facts and allow the reader to make their own conclusions. This goal appears to have been met, almost every topic being covered from both supportive and antagonistical viewpoints. The articles are also sourced, meaning the reader has the freedom of acquainting themselves with the source material the authors used to arrive to their present conclusions.
