NOWTV

(Redirected from Now TV)
NOWTV is currently the on-air brand of CHNU in Surrey, British Columbia, which launched on September 15, 2001. Owned by Trinity Television, NOWTV is a Christian station which airs a blend of religious programming and classic family sitcoms.

NOWTV relies on television advertisements as well as donations from viewers for financial support.

On November 1, 2004, Trinity Television announced that it was selling CHNU and the license for CIIT to Rogers Communications, subject to CRTC approval. If the deal is approved, Rogers will finally have a broadcast television station in the Vancouver market. (It lost the bid for a multicultural station in Vancouver a few years ago to CHNM.) The financial difficulties Trinity has experienced with operating CHNU and getting CIIT on the air, combined with the fact that because Trinity is a charitable organization, it cannot raise capital from outside investors, are the main reasons for the sale.

In September 2005, NOWTV will become Canada's newest television system with the launch of CIIT in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Financial difficulties have delayed CIIT's launch.
