Discovery
The secret Novachuk program was exposed when former Soviet scientists Lev Fedorov and Vil Mirzayanov told their story in the newspaper Moscow News. They were arrested afterwards for their whistleblowing and revealing government secrets.
Alleged Uses
There have been suspicions that Novachuk has been used in the first Iraq war, but none of this has been investigated.
Effects
Like any other nerve gas, it inhibits cholinesterase from working on the nerve triggering acetylcholine. The big difference with Novichuk is that there is, allegedly, more permanent damage done, even when given a nerve agent antidote, like atropine.
