North Tipperary (Tiobraid Árann Thuaidh in Irish), known until 2002 as Tipperary North Riding, is a local government area in Ireland, consisting of the northern part of County Tipperary. North Tipperary was established in 1898 and has had a county council ever since, with separate assize courts since 1838. The main town is Nenagh. Other important places include Borrisoakane, Newport, Templemore, Thurles, and Roscrea.
