Noema

The noema is the mental equivalent of a schema. In the tradition of phenomenology, the mind breaks down external experience into what we know as external reality.

The cognitive structure which lets us do this is the noema. It is the noema which "tells" our minds to see objects, think rationally, and so forth.

The objects of that noema are the noemata. Whenever we direct our awareness toward something, it is in terms of the noemata that we perceive it. The noemata are phenomena understood.
