Nodong 2, is a single stage, mobile liquid propellant medium range ballistic missile developed by North Korea.
The precise capabilities and specifications of the missile are unknown. With a range of up to 2,000 kilometers the whole of Japan is within range, and also brings Israel within range of both Iran and Libya. It is thought to weigh over 25 tons and have a one ton warhead.
It is thought to be based on the Nodong-1, with its increased range achieved by producing the main booster structure from an aluminium — magnesium alloy rather than the heavier steel used in previous North Korean systems. The range increase could also be bought about by reducing the weight of the payload.
