Nkomati Accord

Graca Machel, Samora Machel, PW Botha and Pik Botha at the signing of the Nkomati Accord, Komatipoort, 1984

The Nkomati Accord was a nonagression treaty signed in 1984 between Mozambique and the Republic of South Africa. Its focus was on preventing Mozambique from supplying materials to the African National Congress (ANC) on the one hand, and South Africa from supplying the Mozambique National Resistance (Renamo), on the other.
