The New Zealand national soccer team, nicknamed the All Whites, is the national team of New Zealand and is controlled by New Zealand Soccer Inc. It has made the World Cup once, in 1982, but lost all three games.
New Zealand usually battles Australia for top honors in the OFC. They won the OFC Nations Cup three times, in 1973, 1998, and 2002. In 2004, however, a 4–2 loss to Vanuatu not only denied them from meeting Australia in the final, but also stopped them from coming a step closer to the 2006 World Cup.
