New York-Presbyterian Hospital

New York-Presbyterian Hospital is a prominent university hospital in New York City, composed of two medical centers, Columbia University Medical Center and New York Weill Cornell Medical Center, each affiliated with an Ivy League University.

New York-Presbyterian Hospital was formed in 1997 with the merger of the New York Hospital and the Presbyterian Hospital.

The New York Hospital had been founded in 1771 by a Royal Charter granted by King George III of England, and was the second oldest hospital in America. The Presbyterian Hospital was founded in 1868 by James Lenox, a New York philanthropist.
