Need for Speed: Underground is a racing video game, developed and published by Electronic Arts in 2003. It is part of the Need for Speed series of games.
Its premise (highly tuned, customised cars participating in illegal street races) was likely inspired by the movie The Fast and the Furious and its sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious. It received a sequel in 2004, Need for Speed: Underground 2.
The game was also developed for the Sony PlayStation Portable, under the name Need For Speed Underground: Rivals.
