Nautilus laser
The Nautilus laser is a weapon system jointly developed by the U.S. and Israel to intercept long-range missiles such as the Scud. Northrop Grumman and some Israeli optics firms have been developing the laser cannon. After initial funding for the project in 2003, its first successful test was announced in Spring 2004.
The project was the continuation of an anti-missile laser weapons system started under the administration of Bill Clinton in the U.S. and Shimon Peres in Israel. It was known then as the Pillar of Fire project. TRW was the main US contractor.
