National Diet Library

The National Diet Library (国立国会図書館; Kokuritsu Kokkai Toshokan) is the only national library in Japan. The library is an equivalent of the U.S. Library of Congress, and belongs to the Japanese legislature, National Diet. The library consists of two Main Libraries and many branch libraries. Tokyo Main Library is the largest library of Japan and located in Tokyo. Another main library is called Kansai-kan (関西館; the Library of Kansai), and located in Kyoto Prefecture.

As the Japanese national central library, it stores copies of all publications published in Japan. Moreover, the library is a research library for the Diet and assist the members of the Diet in their research.
