Naruto, Tokushima

Naruto (鳴門市; -shi) is a city located in Tokushima, Japan.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 64,257 and the density of 474.40 persons per km². The total area is 135.45 km².

The city was founded on March 15, 1947.

One of the famous attractions is the Naruto whirlpools between Naruto and Awaji Island in Hyogo, Japan.

Ryōzenji and Gokurakuji, the first two of the 88 temples of the Shikoku Pilgrimage, are in Naruto.
