Nakoma (Pocahontas character)

Nakoma is a character from the 1995 Disney movie, Pocahontas. She is Pocahontas' best friend. She, overhearing Chief Powhatan's warning about the Jamestown settlers, doesn't want Pocahontas to get hurt or killed. She is one of the few Native American women in the film, and in her friend's tribe, to not have long, flowing hair. She instead has her hair tied into a makeshift bun, with the rest of her hair coming out from it. She has bangs, too, that hide most of her forehead. Nakoma cares about her friend Pocahontas, and she shows it when she sends Kocoum to find her. She was most likely created for the film and is NOT based on a real-life individual.
