Näcip Cihanov
Cihanov Näcip Ğayaz ulı /jee-HAN-of na-JEEP ghah-YAHZ oo-LE/ (1911-1988) was a Tatar composer and teacher, statesman. He was granted by Soviet Union National Actor (1957) and The Hero of Socialistic Labor (1981) titles.
In 1941-1943 he was an artistic leader of Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre, in 1939-1977 he was a chairman of Tatarstan's Composers Union; in 1945-1988.he was a rector of Kazan Conservatory, professor (1953).
He composed 8 operas (including the most prominent "Altınçäç" and "Cälil"), 3 ballets, 17 symphonies, including "Qırlay", "Suite to Tatar themes", "Näfisä", "Symphonic novellas", "Symphonic songs", camera-instrumental compositions, romances, songs.
Nacip Cihanov was a very prominent person in Tatarstan music.
