Moropus is an extinct genus of mammal related to the modern horses, rhinos, and tapirs. Like other chalicotheriids, they differed from their modern relatives by having hooves were replaced by huge claws. They probably fed on roots dug up using their claws. They died out about 2 million years ago. Fossils have been found in Africa and North America.
