Mor-Tax

Mor-Tax is the name of the planet in which the aliens from the first season of War of the Worlds TV series originate. While the aliens existence as a continuation from the 1953 film would make them Martians, the first season writes over this and it's revealed that Mor-Tax is their real homeworld (their connection to Mars was never mentioned, though fans have speculated that they used it as a temporary base before launching their invasion; the veterans of the Grover's Mill militia calls them Martians).

It is established that the planet lies within Pleiades in the Taurus constellation. This system also includes a planet called Qar'To that is the homeworld of an unidentified alien race that sends a synth to Earth to destroy the aliens (whether the denizens of Qar'To were themselves synths or an entirely different race was never allowed to be established). The aliens' fixation with the number three seems natural considering how their planet has three moons. The most interesting thing is that theirs is also the third planet from the sun, creating even more suggestion as to their desire for possession of Earth. However, for what they consider a paradise, the star around which the planet revolves is dying, which is the reason for the aliens leaving it to make refuge on Earth. Given the short period in which those en route are expected to arrive and based on a reference to the planet's fate at one point, we can assume that by the time the series has started, the sun may have already died out. This has not been confirmed. Ironically, though they seek occupancy on Earth, its sun hurts their eyes (the host bodies of those they possess are often seen wearing sunglasses). The distance the planet is away from their sun can only be taken in consideration with this, as is to whether the planet's climate plays a part. The length of its seasons and days are also unknown. While it is stated the mating season is every nine years, it is not clarified if this is in reference to the time on Earth or on Mor-Tax.

The planet was never seen or described in any graphic detail, but based on general description, it is a garden planet ripe with vegetation. Because of this, the native species has a vegetarian diet. The existence of more than one living race on the planet seems unlikely given the known race's collective mentality and prejudice. Although, it is once hinted that some of the plants have a fairly good amount of intelligence – possibly more so than human beings.

An individual from this planet and anything relative to them such as technology is referred to as being Mor-Taxan; though, the race as a collective whole would be referred to as the Mor-Tax.

In the second season of the series, the aliens' homeworld was inexplicably called Morthrai (it's race called Morthren), which is seen exploding in the very first shot of the premiere episode. Many have tried to theorize that it is the same planet, possibly named differently due to regional or cultural differences. However, this is never confirmed, and it can easily be chalked up to the season's shaky continuity treatment in regard to that of the first season. Further contradictive data seems to prove this.
