Mollywood

Mollywood refers to the Malayalam film industry in India. See Malayalam Cinema

Some, particularly members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, have also used the term to indicate the fledgling market for so-called "Mormon Cinema." As a likely unwitting alternate use of the term, the play on words is yet somewhat cultural. Mormons have long used the terms "Molly Mormon" and "Peter Priesthood" to indicate, in a sometimes condescending or self-critical but often jocular manner, the "perfectly upright" or virtuous nature of the quintessential and exemplar Mormon woman or man, respectively. Thus, the members who coined the term "Molly"-wood are likely to have done so with the intent to convey this same facetious tone.
