Mew

The word mew can have several meanings:

  • An imitative word, also spelled meow or miaou, representing the cry of a cat or of sea-birds. The name mew, usually sea-mew, as applied to the Larus canus, or common seagull, is, according to Walter William Skeat, also imitative. As the name of the sea-bird it appears in Du. meeuw, Ger. Möwe, He. Miaow, and other languages.
  • A Pokémon of that name.
  • A Monster Rancher character of that name.
  • A band from Denmark of that name.
  • The singular form of mews.
