Mercedes-Benz A-Class

Mercedes A-Class 11/2004 (W169)

The A-Class is a microcar from Mercedes-Benz. The first generation was introduced in 1997 and a replacement appeared in 2004. It is a two- or four-door vehicle. If became famous first for the extensive pre-launch marketing and later for tipping over during the now famous moose test.

The new A-Class is 23 cm longer and 4 cm wider than the previous model and features a redesigned rear axle copied from the Saab 9–3 for improved stability. There are seven engines to choose from:

  • The A150 features a 1.5 L/70 kW 140 Nm engine that uses 6.2 L of fuel per 100 km.
  • The A170 features a 1.7 L/85 kW 155 Nm engine that uses 6.6 L of fuel per 100 km.
  • The A200 features a 2.0 L/100 kW (136 hp)/185 Nm engine that uses 7.2 L of fuel per 100 km.
  • The A160 CDI features a 1.6 L Diesel 60 kW/180 Nm engine that uses 4.9 L of fuel per 100 km.
  • The A180 CDI features a 1.8 L Diesel 80 kW/250 Nm engine that uses 5.2 L of fuel per 100 km.
  • The A200 CDI features a 2.0 L Diesel 103 kW/300 Nm engine.
