Meow Mix

Meow Mix was a bar on New York City's Lower East Side. Meow Mix catered mainly to lesbians, but performing bands would usually attract a diverse audience, and patrons tended to be welcoming to all.

Meow Mix closed in late 2004. The space reopened, conspicuously sans stage, as Vasmay Lounge, a recreation of a neighborhood gay bar by the same name from the '70s.

The bar was featured prominently in Kevin Smith's Chasing Amy, much to the embarrassment of locals.

Meow Mix is also a popular variety of cat food.
