Menshikov Tower

Menshikov tower (Ìåíøèêîâà áàøíÿ) is the name given by Muscovites to the church of St. Gabriel in the White City of Moscow.
The church was commissioned by Prince Menshikov and built in 1705–07. One of the earliest Western style structures in Russia, it was the tallest building in Moscow at that time. As the Muscovites put it, "Sukharev tower is Ivan the Great's bride, but Menshikov tower is his sister".
The upper storey with a statue representing an archangel carrying a cross collapsed during a thunderstorm in 1723, and have never been restored.
