Melgar
Melgar is a Peruvian soccer club based in Arequipa, Peru, most often referred to as F.B.C."Melgar". It is one of Peru's oldest soccer teams, founded in March 25, 1915 by a group of soccer enthusiasts from Arequipa. The team first participated in the Peruvian football league (Campeonato descentralizado) in 1919 in Lima and won for the first time in 1981. The team also won the Copa Peru in 1971. Their old home venue was the Estadio Melgar (20.000), but since the Estadio de la UNSA was founded in 1990, it has been its new home venue with a 60.000 spectator space.
