List of Mega Man characters (Battle Network series)
(Redirected from MegaMan NT Warrior characters)
The characters listed pertain to both MegaMan Battle Network/Rockman EXE and the anime and manga MegaMan NT Warrior.
The original Japanese names in Western order (First name before last name) are first. English names are second, if applicable.
- Netto Hikari (光 熱斗 Hikari Netto) / Lan Hikari – Lan isn't particularly special, but the bond between him and his NetNavi, MegaMan, allow them to achieve what others may deem impossible, for late in Megaman Battle Network 1, they are revealed to be brothers. But, this brotherhood is only in the games, and has not been mentioned in the anime yet, and has been proven impossible in the manga so far. Lan's mother is Haruka Hikari, and his grandfather is Tadashi Hikari.
- Rockman.EXE (ロックマン Rokkuman) / MegaMan.EXE – MegaMan is Lan's NetNavi, developed specifically for him by his father. In the games (but apparently not in the manga or anime), MegaMan was developed from the DNA of Saito Hikari (Hub Hikari), Lan's twin brother, who had died from a blood disease. Because of this, Lan and MegaMan often consider themselves to be brothers. Similar to other versions of MegaMan, he is armed with the MegaBuster, which can be charged. In later games, he has the ability to Style Change, which allows him the use of other (often element-themed) weapons, and Soul Unison (DoubleSoul), which allows him to take the power of another NetNavi for his own (again, analgous to other versions of MegaMan). In the anime, Lan is also able to use a special BattleChip known as the SynchroChip to perform a CrossFusion, allowing Lan to use MegaMan's powers.
- Dr. Yuuichiro Hikari (光 祐一朗 Hikari Yūichirō) – Yuuichiro is Lan's father, and the creator of MegaMan. He had followed in his father's footsteps, working as a scientist and a renowned authority on anything having to do with the net. As such, he is often away, working on his latest project with SciLab. Later on, his focus moves onto merging operator and NetNavi in a process known as CrossFusion.
- Meiru Sakurai (桜井 メイル Sakurai Meiru) / Mayl Sakurai (Maylu in the English anime and manga) – Maylu is classmate and friend of Lan, and the operator of Roll (ロール Rōru). Maylu and Lan are next-door neighbors, and are often seen as a couple. This relationship would typically be mirrored by the relationship between MegaMan and Roll.
- Rush – Rush, an anime-only character, is a doglike virus created by Yuuichiro and installed into Maylu's PET when Roll and friends attempt to recover MegaMan. Rush also has the ability to go between the real world and the cyberworld, as as such, act as both Maylu's and Roll's pets. However, Rush has a tendency to stick with Lan.
- Dekao Oyama (大山 デカオ Ōyama Dekao) / Dex Ogreon – Dex is a classmate and friend of Lan, and the operator of GutsMan. He is often portrayed as a bully with a soft spot. His Navi, GutsMan, is a large Navi known for his massive strength, but as a result often lacks intelligence. Dex has a little brother Chisao, who is featured in a Battle Network 3 subplot, and a recurring character in the anime. In later anime episodes, Dex gives up NetBattling in order to focus on his new career as a curry chef.
- Chisao Oyama (大山チサオ Ooyama Chisao) / Chisao Ogreon – Chisao is the younger brother of Dex, and originally lived in the city of Ameroupe in Netopia before moving to ACDC/Dentech. He is too young to operate his own NetNavi, although he is a NetBattling prodigy (pulling off a Program Advance on GutsMan when Dex himself could not). Although he only appears in Battle Network 3 in a small plot, Chisao is a regular in the anime, often appearing when Dex does not.
- Yaito Ayanokoji (綾小路 やいと Ayanokoji Yaito) / Yai Ayano – Bald in front, Yai is the filthy rich classmate and friend of Lan, and the operator of Glyde (Glide in the English anime and manga). Considerably younger than the other main characters, as she skipped a few levels due to her intelligence, which for some reason doesn't seem to be used at all. Glide is often seen as Yai's cyber-butler.
- Toru Hikawa (氷川 透 Hikawa Tōru) / Tory Froid – Tory, a character appearing only in the anime, is classmate of Lan, and the operator of IceMan. His father runs the city's water works facility, and because of this, once he was blackmailed by the WWW to do their bidding before Lan had helped them. In the games, Tory is never mentioned by name, and IceMan was his father's NetNavi. It is to be noted that in the games, Tory was kidnapped so that his father was forced to cooperate, while in the anime the reverse was true.
- Enzan Ijuin (伊集院 炎山 Ijūin Enzan) / Eugene Chaud (Chaud Blaze in the English anime and manga) – Chaud is member of the Official Net Battler Association, an online police force against hacking. Chaud is meticulous in his duties; this makes Lan see him as a rival, because Lan believes that Chaud is arrogant. Chaud is the operator of Blues (ブルース Burūsu) / Protoman, a NetNavi that he created himself and spends ten hours a day training. Like Yai, Chaud is the protege and heir of a corporation, but unlike Yai, Chaud's father, Shuuseki Ijuin, often treats him coldly. Because of his meticulous training with Protoman, he is a NetBattler with over 500 wins, and is introduced as such in the anime. In the anime, his character is closer to that of his game counterpart by becoming a NetSavior (NetSaver).
- Mariko Oozono-sensei (大園 まり子先生 Mariko-sensei) / Ms. Mari – Ms. Mari is the teacher to class 5-B at the Densan (ACDC/DenTech) school, of which Lan, Maylu, Dex, Yai, and Tory are a part of. She is also seen as the adult chaperone to many of Lan's activities. She does not appear to have a NetNavi in the anime, and uses a generic one in the games.
- Masa – Masa (Maysa in the English anime) is the owner and operator of a fish stand, and the operator of SharkMan. In the anime, he is the alter-ego of Commander Beef, one of the Net-Agents, and only uses SharkMan in this form. By day, he often tells the kids the various merits of fish, and claims that he does not have a NetNavi, or anything close to being related to a NetNavi. Masa has a crush on Ms. Mari, but Ms. Mari seems to have fallen for Commander Beef.
- Yamitaro Higure (日暮闇 太郎 Higure Yamitarō) / Mr. Higsby – Higsby is a collector of rare BattleChips who owns his own chip shop. His NetNavi, NumberMan, operates a similar chip shop from the cyberworld in the anime. Originally, Higsby locks down Lan's school as part of a WWW operation in the games, or as a way to steal money and rare chips from Yai in the anime, but Lan manages to force Higsby to the side of good. In the anime, Higsby has a crush on Ms. Mari, and sees Masa and Commander Beef as rivals for her affection.
- Saloma / Sal – Sal is a gardener, and the operator of WoodMan, who takes on the identity Black Rose as a Net-Agent. Unlike Maysa and Commander Beef, Sal uses Woodman both as herself and Black Rose, leaving little doubt about Black Rose's secret identity.
- Miyuki Kuroi / Miyu – Miyu is a fortune teller, and the operator of SkullMan. She is also a Net-Agent, taking on the identity of Misteriu.
- Kero Midorikawa / Ribita – Ribita is a television personality at DNN (the Densan/Dentech News Network), and is often seen as a reporter or a television host. She is also the operator of ToadMan. In the anime, she, along with Higsby, are the commentators that frequently appear during the N1 Grand Prix story arc.
- Meijin Eguchi / Mr. Famous – Mr. Famous is a scientist working with Yuuichiro. He is the creator of several powerful NetNavis, including GateMan and Punk, although it is not known which NetNavi he uses in the anime. A running gag in the anime involves Famous repeatedly trying to convince Lan to not use "Mr." when addressing him. The Japanese version often has the line san wo iranai while the English version will have Famous, just Famous to that effect.
- Raika (ライカ) – Raika is a NetSaver from Sharo, and the operator of SearchMan. He often relies on cunning and instinct to solve his battles against Nebula and the Darkloids, and does not use CrossFusion. This puts him originally at odds with Lan, who he believes is inferior because he has the tendency to do things without thinking about them first.
- Kenichi Hino (火野 ケンイチ Hino Kenichi) / Mr. Match – Mr. Match is an agent of the WWW, and the operator of FireMan (TorchMan in the English anime), HeatMan, and FlameMan (but only one at a time). Mr. Match, like the other original members of the WWW, is of ambigouous alignment, appearing as a hero in certain games and as a villain in others. In the anime, HeatMan was created by Mr. Famous from FireMan's data when FireMan was facing deletion at the hands of FreezeMan, and FireMan was re-created from HeatMan when HeatMan was facing deletion at the hands of PlantMan. He does not operate FlameMan in the anime.
- Madoi Iroaya / Maddie – Maddie is another WWW operator, and the operator of ColoredMan (WackoMan in the English anime). She was the mastermind behind an incident where the traffic signals in the city were altered as to cause accidents, and the mastermind behind blackmailing Tory and IceMan. In the anime, she also has a brief stint with Gospel, but found friendship with her fellow WWW operators.
- Mahajorama / Yahoot – Yahoot is a WWW operator, and, in the anime, the owner of a curry shop. His NetNavi is MagicMan. In the anime, he is considered to be the world's foremost authority on curry, and uses the profits from his curry shop (which Lan frequents) to fund the WWW's operations. Later on, he trains Dex to be a curry chef.
- Count Elec Hakushaku / Count Jack Zap – Count Zap is the final member of the original WWW, and the operator of ElecMan. He is the brother of Magnets Gauss, one of Gospel's operators. The rivalry he has with his brother is due to their mother's preference for one over the other (Count Zap in the games and Gauss in the anime).
- Mr. Wily – Funding for his studies in robotics was cut in favour of Tadashi Hikari's research on networking. Bitter at how much networking has progressed, he wishes to have vengeance by destroying the internet. In Megaman Battle Network, he attempts to take over military satellites with a program called the LifeVirus, but is defeated and believed dead. In Megaman Battle Network 3, he returns, and awakens a prototype network called Alpha, but is absorbed when it is activated. Wily returns yet again, proving that he has not died in the third game in this series, in Rockman Exe 5: Team of Colonel (To be released under the name of Megaman Battle Network 5: Team Colonel), which features an extended ending as opposed to the slightly shorter Team of Blues (Protoman). It is here that Dr. Regal is officially confirmed to be the son of Dr. Wily, after an implication in Rockman Exe 4 (Megaman Battle Network 4, both versions). For reasons currently unknown, he wishes for his son to become 'good' and erases his memory. It is also unknown if Dr. Wily will return as an evil character. He is the leader of the World Three (WWW) in the first season of the anime, and comes back in Rockman.EXE Stream, the fourth and latest season.
- Gospel – Gospel (Grave in the English anime) refers to both a netmafia organization led by a mysterious Shuryou Gospel (literally Gospel Leader) (Kid Grave in the English anime) and the wolf-like creature that is unleased by the organization. In the games, Gospel the creature was created from a collection of bugs in various programs, while in the anime, Gospel and Bass were created from the remains of PharaohMan.
- Forte / Bass – A mysterious Net Navi who roams the deepest recesses of the internet, seeking to do battle with the strongest opponents. His past is intertwined with that of Tadashi Hikari. He was the very first Solo NetNavi, created by Dr.Cossack. After being wrongfully accused of causing malfunction of various machines, scientists decide to delete Forte. Dr. Cossack's attempt at stopping them was futile. Nearly defeated, Forte absorbs the strength of the Net Navis he has defeated and flees. He blames humanity for his suffering, and keeps a scar in his chest to remind him of that. He returns every game to battle the series' main characters. In the anime, he is a reincarnation of remains of Pharaohman. Later on in the series, he highjacks a robotic suit to move around in the real world. He plays a large part in Rockman Exe: The Movie.
- Shun Obihiro / Sean Obihiro – Sean is a character that appears only in the games. In it, he is revealed at the end of Battle Network 2 as the identity of Shuryou Gospel. He is a young child whose parents were killed in an airplane crash. Ostracized by his peers, he decided to strike back at society by forming Gospel. Unbeknownst to him, he was manipulated by Wily the entire time. Sean would eventually change his ways when Lan offers him a hand in friendship. In the anime, Shuryou Gospel is instead a robot being controlled by Wily, which Bass manages to hijack and use as his human form. In the manga, he is known as Kei Yuki, an extremely bright professor from Ameroupe in Volumes 4 and 5. In Volume, 6 his real identity is revealed to be Sean Obihiro. Super Intendent Oda and Sean say that he was brainwashed by Dark Power.
