Mathieu Berson

Mathieu Berson (born February 23, 1980 in Vannes, France) is a French football player who currently plays for Aston Villa F.C. as a midfielder.

In somewhat of a battle to sign the former Nantes star, a fee of 1.7 million pounds was agreed on his sale on August 6, 2004, after counter-offers from clubs such as RCD Espanyol, Besiktas and Galatasaray. He signed for a four-year contract at Aston Villa.

His first league match at Aston Villa was made as a substitute for Pete Whittingham on December 18, 2004.
