Mărăşeşti (pronounced muh-ruh-SHESHT) is a small town in Romania in Vrancea county. It is 20 km (13 miles) north of Focşani.
During WWI, near Mărăşeşti, an important battle against the German Army was fought by the Romanian Army. A mausoleum, which holds the remains of 6 000 Romanian soldiers, was built here to commemorate the Romanian victory.
