Maranatha

A combination of the two Aramaic words maran and atha. Maranatha means "Our Lord is coming/has come". It was first used as a greeting between early Christians; the phrase later became synonymous with the curse "anathema maranatha".

It is believed by some that "Maranatha" could also be a mis-translation of the Hebrew phrase "mohoram atta", which means "you are put under the ban".

For examples of word use see I Corinthians 16:22.

"Maranatha" is also the name of a church movement, and the name of a Christian music label.
