Magic Valley
Magic Valley is a region in south central Idaho consisting of Blaine, Camas, Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, Lincoln, Minidoka and Twin Falls Counties. As of 2000 the population of the region was 162,397. Twin Falls is the region's largest city and main commercial center. Other important cities include Jerome, Burley, Rupert and Gooding.
The name "Magic Valley" is a reference to several irrigation projects which transformed the desert region to productive farmland in the early 20th Century. Many cities and towns in the region were founded between 1900 and 1910 as a direct result of these projects. Agriculture continues to be a major component of the region's economy.
