Ma On Shan

History

The slope of Ma On Shan was a quarry site before urban development. The quarrying workers speak a language which is a combination of various languages in southern China.

The current new town was built on the foot of the peak of Ma On Shan, and on reclaimed land along the Tolo Harbour. It is an extension of the Sha Tin new town.

Transportation

Ma On Shan is served by green taxis (New Territories taxis), minibuses, KMB, and NWFB (on cross-harbour routes). The Ma On Shan Rail has begun service since 21st December, 2004.
