Brnik Airport

Brnik is the international airport of Ljubljana (the airport code: LJU), located near the village of the same name approx. 26 km north of Ljubljana and 11 km south of Kranj at the road between Kranj and Mengeš. It has one paved runway, 3,300m long. The airport was opened on December 24 1963.

Brnik is home to Adria Airways, the Slovenian flag carrier. Currently easyJet is the only low cost carrier serving this airport with connections to London-Stansted and Berlin-Schönefeld. Other airlines serving the airport include Air France, CSA, Austrian, Malev and others.

On December 8 2004, the airport received its first annual millionth passenger. Overall, the airport handled 1,048,238 passengers in 2004, of which 830,431 chose Adria Airways.

The airport is served by a highway exit off the A2 Ljubljana – Karavanke motorway and by bus service connecting it with Ljubljana and Kranj.
