A
Android 8
A robot that resembles Frankenstein. Agent Purple (Murasaki) uses him to fight Goku, but he refuses. When Purple threatens to press his self destruct button, Goku knocks it out of his hand. Goku nicknames him Hachan, and he helps defeat General White. Gives some energy to Goku to power his Spirit Ball.
Android 13
A creation of Dr. Gero, Android 13 was the strongest of the three robots (the others being 14 and 15), and a fair match for Goku. He "evolved" into the much more powerful Super 13 after absorbing key components from the defeated 14 and 15. He appeared in the 7th movie. Never appears in the comic.
Android 14
A large, albino android, Android 14 was destroyed by Mirai Trunks. After his defeat several of his parts were absorbed by 13. Never appears in the comic.
Android 15
A small android with a large hat, shades and found to consistanly be drinking an (assumed) alcoholic beverage, Android 15 was destroyed by Vegeta. After his defeat several of his parts were absorbed by 13. Never appears in the comic.
Android 16
Android 16 is a large android with red hair and a green jacket. Unlike other androids, 16 is gentle by nature. His body is destroyed by Perfect Cell, however, his head survives, and requests that Mr. Satan throw him over to the fight, to help Gohan control himself. Is destroyed by Cell, and causes Gohan to go SSJ2.
Android 17
See Android 17. Brother of Android 18, created by Dr. Gero.
Android 18
See Android 18. Sister of Android 17, created by Dr. Gero. Marries Krillin and has a daughter named Marron.
Android 19
Android 19 (or just 19) is one of the first androids seen in Dragon Ball Z. He plays a small role at the start of the Android Saga as Dr Gero's side-kick. He is not particularly strong, but manages to best Goku in a fight, due to the heart virus that Goku had contracted at the time. 19 then almost kills Goku by draining him of his energy, but is interrupted by Vegeta, who wants to be the one to kill Goku.
Vegeta then reveals that he is now a Super Saiyan and although Goku was one too, he was not at full strength due to the heart virus. Their fight then commences, and Vegeta clearly has the upper hand, before 19 manages to latch his hands on to Vegeta's wrists. Vegeta allows the android to drain some of his energy, before he pulls the android's hands clean off. A terrified 19 then scrambles away fearing for his life, but is finished of by Vegeta's signature Big Bang Attack.

Buu
Buu is a magical creation made by Bibidi.
Bra
See Bra. Bra or on japanesse Bura, is the daughter of Bulma and Vegeta. Funimation has dubbed her as Bulla, because her name is not appropriate for children. Her first appearance is as a five-year old girl at the end of DBZ. Then later appeared in DBGT as an 13 year-old teen. She looks just like Bulma, but she has Vegeta's attitude.
Broly

Burter
A tall blue alien and a member of the Ginyu Force, he was believed to be the fastest warrior in the universe. During the Ginyu Saga though, he was outclassed by Goku, even though he was teaming up with Jeice at the time. After being beaten by Goku, he was slain by Vegeta.
C
Cell
See Cell
Cell Junior
A blue, child-like version of Cell. Cell spawns seven of these creatures to battle the Z fighters in an effort to make Gohan angry. When Gohan finally does snap, he dispatches them quite readily. They appear to have inherited most of Cell's special abilities.
Cooler
Brother of Freeza, he attacked Earth to get revenge for his brother's death. He was defeated by Son Goku.
He later attacked the planet Namek as Metal-Cooler, a bizzare mechanical life-form. He was again defeated, this time by both Goku and Vegeta in a last ditch defense.
Cymbol
Cymbol is Demon King Piccolo's second minion. King Piccolo's other spawns include: LDBC:Tambourine, Cymbol, LDBC:Piano, LDBC:Drum, and Piccolo.
D
Dabura
The Prince of Demons, Dabura is possessed by Babidi and serves as his right-hand man and most powerful minion. He is turned into a large cookie, and is eaten by Majin Boo after he realizes that the creature is uncontrollable and attempts to destroy it.
In the anime, Dabura ends up in heaven and reforms his ways.
Doctor Briefs
The father of Bulma, Dr. Briefs is a grey-haired, brilliant scientist. In Dragon Ball Z he's the president of Capsule Corporation, which creates "Capsules" that can shrink inanimate objects down to pocket size. He and Bulma fixed Android 16 during the Imperfect Cell Saga, showing off their technical know-how. Usually Doctor Briefs is seen with a cat on his shoulder.
Doctor Gero
See Doctor Gero.
Dodoria
The 'left-hand man' of Freeza, Dodoria travelled with him to Namek in search of the dragonballs. Dodoria later meets Vegeta, and tells him of the Planet Vegeta's fate. The deal he made was for Vegeta to let him go after he told the truth, but Vegeta had lied, and killed Dodoria.
In the anime, it was Dodoria who killed Bardock's crew.
Drum
Drum is Demon King Piccolo's fourth minion. King Piccolo's other spawns include: LDBC:Tambourine, LDBC:Cymbol, LDBC:Piano, Drum, and Piccolo.
G

Grandpa Gohan
The adoptive father of Goku who found him in a space ship when Goku was a baby. Grandpa Gohan was taught martial arts by the Turtle Hermit, Muten-Rôshi and passed on his knowledge to Goku. He told Goku never to look at the moon because he seemed to have knowledge of Goku's Oozaru transformation. Goku never knew it but he looked at the moon one night, transformed and killed Gohan. From that time on, Goku believed that Gohan's soul was in the four star dragonball.
Guldo
A short, frog-like creature, Guldo is a member of the Ginyu Force. Though obviously the physically weakest member of the force, Guldo had the ability to stop time by holding his breath. Guldo fought Kuririn and Gohan after their powers have been awakened by Guru. Gohan and Kuririn had a huge advantage over Guldo in power and speed, and Guldo would only defend himself by holding his breath to stop time and hide. He would later use his Mind Freeze technique to freeze them in place. After Guldo had finished toying with Gohan and Kuririn, he used his energy to extract a tree from the ground, making it into a spear, and he would have killed them if Vegeta hadn't killed Guldo, decapitating him with a ki blast.
Gyûmaô
Also known as the Ox-King, he is father to Chi Chi.
H
Haze Shenron
Haze (Liang Xinglong (Kanji: 二星龍; katakana: リャンシンロン /Ryan Shinron; Pinyin: Liang3 Xing1 Long2; Wade-Giles: Liang Hsing-lung in Chinese) is a dragon-like villain and the first of the seven Shadow Dragons to appear.
Haze Shenron came into being when Goku (Son Goku in the English manga and Japanese anime) used the Dragon Balls to bring a man named Bora back to life after a mercenary, Tao Paipai, had killed him. When Goku made his wish, Minus Energy increased within the Dragon Balls, particularly within the "Two-Star Ball" (Ryan Shinchū, Liang Xing Qiu (Kanji: 二星球; katakana: リャンシンチュウ/Ryan Shinchū; Pinyin: Liang3 Xing1 Qiu2; Wade-Giles: Liang Hsing Ch'iu in Chinese). When the Dragon Balls became completely corrupted by Minus Energy, the Two Star Ball flew into a lake and transformed into Haze Shenron.
The Wicked Dragon's power was to use his Minus Energy to pollute water and slowly kill all surrounding life. He claimed to be the most powerful of the Wicked Dragons but Wu Xinglong claimed to be the strongest as well. Rage Shenron (Wu Xinglong) also said that Haze Shenron was really the weakest (the strongest was really Syn Shenron (Yi Xinglong)).
Haze Shenron's name is Chinese for "two-star dragon". However, the pronunciation is incorrect. While it is true that liang is Chinese for "two", its Kanji is 倆. Liang is used to mean two of something. The Chinese 二 also means two but it is pronounced as er4 (erh in Wade-Giles). So the correct pronunciation of 二星龍 would be Er Xinglong.
J
Jeice
A red human-creature with white hair, Jeice is a member of the Ginyu Force. He teamed up with Burter to take on Goku after witnessing the latter defeating Recoome with one blow. Proving to be no match for the Saiyan, Jeice fled to get backup. After returning with Captain Ginyu, Jeice fought and was killed by Vegeta.
K
Kaioshin, East
East Kaiōshin is the only surviving Kaiōshin of Buu's assault. Afterwards, he is typically called only Kaiōshin or Supreme Kai, since there are no others to confuse him with.
His loyal companion is Kibito, who is not Kaiōshin himself; they fuse together using the Kaiō fusion earrings and become Kibitoshin (Kibitokai).
Karin
Karin is a white cat who lives in Karin Tower. Goku trains with him. Karin is known as Whiskers the Wonder Cat in an early 1980's dub of Dragon Ball.
Kibito
Kibito is the greatest ally of the East Kaiōshin, also known as the Supreme Kai. Kibito has the power of healing, which helps the Z Fighters in many situations. He eventually accidentally permanently fuses with the East Kaiōshin to create Kibitoshin.
King Cold
The father of Freeza, King Cold appears briefly at the start of the Trunks Saga, before being easily killed by Mirai Trunks. In appearance he resembles Freeza's second form. He is likely best known for his idle complaints of how long it takes Freeza to start and finish a fight.
Kiwi
Kiwi is a relatively low-ranking henchman of Freeza. Although at one time he was more powerful than Vegeta, he was no match for him once Vegeta had returned from Earth and promptly killed him. Sometimes spelled Kui or Cui.
Kibitoshin
Kibitoshin or Kibitokai is the result of fusion between East Kaiôshin and Kibito via Potara fusion earrings. He becomes very helpful in the Kid Buu Saga.

M
Mr. Popo
Mr. Popo is an immortal djinn who lives in Kami's Lookout and is the chef there. Previously he was a resident of Planet Namek.
N
Nail
Nail is a Namekian who looks exactly like Piccolo, apart from the clothes. He is described as the lone 'warrior class' of Namekian left. He is the personal body guard to Guru, and is very strong for a Namek.
During the Freeza Saga Nail has to fight Freeza in order to stop him from killing Guru and getting the Dragonballs. Even though Freeza was in his lowest power level, Nail was no match for the tyrant, and even lost an arm (which he regenerated) during the battle. Before Freeza could finish Nail off, Freeza is called away for some reason and Nail is left for dead on the ground.
Piccolo then arrives and finds the disabled Namek. Nail is still able to speak, and asks Piccolo to fuse with him in order to increase his chances against Frieza, and at the same time save his life. Piccolo agrees after some questioning of Nail's motives, and indeed his power level increases dramatically.
Namu
Namu first appears in the 21st Budokai, fighting Lanphan. He has problems fighting her, since she removes her shirt, but he overcomes and defeats her. His next fight is between Goku, and while it is an intense fight, he loses in the end. Later, he is found dead, killed by King Piccolo's minion, Tamborine.
Nappa
A Sayian warrior, Nappa plays an insignificant role in Dragon Ball Z, and he is killed very early in the series during the Saiyan Saga. Nappa was originally Vegeta's right hand man, however when Vegeta saw how weak he was compared to Goku, he killed Nappa himself. Nappa is a very large Saiyan (which does not relate to his power level) who is bald and not too bright.
In a later episode, Vegeta claims that a pure breed Saiyan's hair style remains unchanged from birth which would mean that Nappa was always bald. This would contradict with his brief appearance in the Bardock movie which shows him to have a fair amount. He possibly shaved off his hair in between the Bardock movie and the Saiyan Saga, after which it would never grow back. However, the content of the Bardock movie is not considered canon, outside of the destruction of the planet.
Naturon Shenron
Naturon (Qi Xinglong in the original Japanese, being Chinese for Seven Star Dragon) is one of the Seven Shadow Dragons, and is the dragon of earthquakes. He is also the dragon of the seven star dragonball. Naturon Shenron was born when Bulma wished for the people killed by Vegeta in the World Marshall Arts Tournament to be revived.
When Goku, Pan and Giru where searching for the Dragon Balls, Naturon was the 4th Dragon they found. Goku easily defeated Naturon, but then the evil dragon tricked Pan and absorbed her. He gained much power, but due to cockiness (a flaw of MANY MANY Dragonball characters) Goku was able to retrieve Pan, destroy Naturon and get the Seven Star Ball.
He is the only character in Dragon Ball (original series), Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT to shoot energy into the ground and also the only character to absorb someone with a dragonball. He is also the only Shadow Dragon that can't fly.
O
Oolong
P
Paragus
Paragus is a Sayain and the father of Broly (Brolli), Paragus appears in one of the movies. His name is a pun of asparagus.
He was nearly killed when Freeza destroyed planet Vegeta, however the "latent energy" in his son Brolli allowed them to escape. Paragus is unable to control his son's power when the boy has grown up, so he has a scientist create a controlling device which is placed on Brolli while he is asleep. Using this device, Paragus uses Brolli as a tool of destruction in order to have some sort of rule over the universe.
Paragus is later crushed alive and thrust into outer space by Brolli while trying to flee in a space pod after the controlling device had been nullified.
Piano
Piano is Demon King Piccolo's third minion. King Piccolo's other spawns include: LDBC:Tambourine, LDBC:Cymbol, Piano, LDBC:Drum, and Piccolo.
Piccolo
Piccolo is a namek and the spawn/reincarnation of Demon King Piccolo. He entered the series as an enemy of Goku, determined to avenge the defeat of his "father". By the start of Dragon Ball Z, he has switched aliances though, and joins the Z Fighters against the various threats that occur. He has a close relationship with Gohan.
Pilaf
Emperor Pilaf is a small, impish demi-human who craves nothing more than power and dreams of ruling the world.
Pilaf's first confrontation with Goku is in the Emperor Pilaf Saga over the Dragonballs, which he seeks so that he can wish to rule the world. When he fails, he then releases Piccolo Daimaou from his confinement to achieve power.
Pilaf is last seen in Dragon Ball GT, as he unwittingly makes a wish that reverts Goku back to childhood.
Pompet
Pompet is a small, but fast human who is the star of several action movies. Like Hercule, he has an inflated sense of himself. In the 22nd Budokai, he fights Goku, who disposes of him with three quick blows. He is not seen again.

See Raditz.
Recoome
A large, human-like member of the Ginyu Force. Recoome is physically the strongest in the force, but obviously not the brightest.
Recoome had first fought Vegeta, dominating once Vegeta ran out of energy. He would have destroyed Vegeta with his Eraser Cannon attack if Gohan and Kuririn hadn't stepped in to save Vegeta. After Kuririn's surprise attack on him, Recoome had gotten up, and nearly killed him with one kick to the head. Gohan was his next challenger, mainly toying with the boy. Gohan had very little advantage over him, but Recoome's power was too much for him, and he would have died from a broken neck if Goku hadn't arrived in time to give him and Kuririn a senzu bean.
Surprisingly enough, he threw Vegeta one before fighting Recoome. He had thought Goku was being small and cocky, but Goku ended up felling the giant with one devastating blow. Later, Vegeta stepped in, obliterating the unconscious Recoome after killing Burter.
S
Saibamen
Small, humanoid creatures, they were used by the Saiyan's for the purpose of training. During the battle with Nappa, six were grown in the Earth's soil to attack the defending Z Fighters. The English manga calles them "Cultivars". One was killed by Vegeta after failing to defeat Tenshinhan, another had self-destructed on Yamcha, killing him, three were killed by Kuririn's raining energy blasts, and the remaining one was killed by Piccolo after it was weakened by Kuririn's energy blast. They later appeared in Dragon Ball GT, from Hell.
Saibemen have very sharp claws, the ability to shoot a stream of acid from the top of their head, and can self-destruct like a bomb.
Super 17
Super 17 is the result of a fusion between Android 17 and Dr Myuu's copy of Android 17. This results in the powerful and unstoppable being known as Super 17.
Syn Shenron
He is the one star dragon and by far the most powerful Shadow Dragon, considering how he was made. Haze Shenron, Rage Shenron, Oceanus Shenron, Naturon Shenron, Nouva Shenron, and Eis Shenron were created by a certain wish, all of them different. Syn Shenron is all of the negative energy of their negative energy, put into one being. When he first fights Goku, he takes a beating, but then gets desperate and absorbs all the other Dragon Balls to reach his ultimate form, Omega Shenron (almost a fusion between all seven Dragon Balls, his form is nearly the same but he now wields all the abilities of the shadow dragons). This is the most powerful villain in the Dragon Ball Universe, and apart from the Super Saiyan 4 Fusion Gogeta (who failed due to his own cockiness). He was finally defeated by a Spirit Bomb with energy gathered from all over the universe.
T
Tambourine
Tambourine is Demon King Piccolo's first minion. King Piccolo's other spawns include: Tambourine, Cymbol, Piano, Drum, and Piccolo.
Tao Pai Pai
Tsuru-Sen'nin's younger brother and a highly skilled assassin. Tao is responsible for the death of General Blue, who he kills with only his tongue. He is sent by the Red Ribbon Army to kill Goku and retrieve the Dragonballs, but Goku defeats him, seemingly killing Tao with his own grenade. Tao returns as a rebuilt cyborg in the 23rd world tournament, brutally defeating Chaozu. He is beaten by Tien in the next fight.
In the anime, he makes a later appearance in Dragon Ball Z during the Cell Saga as a henchman for a rich coward who is forcing a village to build a dome to protect him from Cell. He is stopped by Son Gohan.
He is known as General Tao Pei in an early 1980's Dragon Ball dub.
Tenshinhan
Tenshinhan or Tien Shinhan is a very strong three eyed human, who is usually accompanied by his friend Chaozu.
Torbi
One of the South Kaio's fighters at the World Tournament. His form is insectlike and dark red in color. He is likely the strongest on the South Kaio's team, and one of the stronger (or perhaps luckier) ones in the tournament, making it to the semifinal round before being resoundly beaten by Paikuhan.
Tsuru-Sen'nin
The Crane Hermit, brother to Tao Pai Pai, and master to Tenshinhan and Chaozu. In the American dub, he is given the additional name of Master Shen. In an early 1980's dub, he is known as Lord Wu Zu.
He was once friends with Muten-Rôshi, however when they were defeated by the forces of the Demon King Piccolo and their mentor killed sealing him away, bitterness began to grow in his heart and he turned away from his old teachings and began a school where his hatred of the world began to spread to his pupils.
In the 22nd Tenka'ichi Budôkai, he entered his two star pupils, Tenshinhan and Chaozu to counter Roshi's pupils, Goku, Kuririn and Yamcha.
After Tenshinhan and Chaouzu left him, he rebuilt his near-dead brother (who was injured by Goku in combat, and had him enter into the 23rd Tenka'ichi Budôkai to get revenge on both Tenshinhan and Goku. Tenshinhan, however, easily defeats Tao and threatens Tsuru if he ever bothers him again.
Trunks
Trunks appears in two forms, the first referred to as Mirai Trunks, or Trunks of the Future, and the second refers to the Trunks that first appears as an infant and is known by fans as Chibi Trunks.
Turres
In the Dragon Ball movie Tree of Might (3rd movie), Turres (dub name: Turles) is a Saiyan with an uncanny resemblance to Son Goku. (No evidence is provided in the movie for him being a relative of Goku, but some fans theorize that this is possible.) He was 10 years old when Planet Vegeta was destroyed by Freeza, and he managed to flee undetected in an escape pod.
Turres, like many Saiyans, had a craving for power. Having heard of the Saiyan Goku on planet Earth, he goes to investigate and plant the Tree of Might. Turres's men are defeated easily and even his general Almond is destroyed. After eating some fruit from the tree, Turres becomes super-charged, and defeats all the Z fighters, including Goku. While Piccolo served as a distraction, Goku formed a massive spirit bomb which then destroyed the tree and Turres.
Turres also made a second appearance in the video game/movie "Plot To Destroy the Saiya-jin!". This movie is considered even less canon than the other movies as it is based on a game and not produced by Toei.
