Achiote, or Achiotl, (Bixa orellana) is a tree from the tropical regions of the Americas (known also by its Tupi name of urucum). It is best known as the source of annatto.
"Achiote paste" is a name for the spice mixture recado rojo.
This plant is sometimes used by the natives of Brazil to make lipstick.
