Leukemia-Lymphoma Society
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The Society's mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. It was founded in New York City in 1949 by Rudolph and Antoinette de Villiers after the death of their son Robert from leukemia. Since its founding it has provided hundreds of millions of dollars for research on blood cancers and has coordinated a nationwide informational clearinghouse for medical professionals, caregivers, and patients.
