Last Call Return

(Redirected from LastCallReturn)

*69 (North America, officially Last Call Return), also known as 1471 (United Kingdom, officially Call return), and *10# (Australia, officially Call Return) is a telephone feature code used by telephones to give a called party the time of the last telephone call received and the calling party's telephone number, and may also allow them to call back to the calling party's number.

In the US, the star code for this is *69 (or 1167 on a non-touch tone phone); in the UK, 1471 is used, and in Australia *10#.

In many cases, the calling party is able to prevent their number being revealed via last call return, either permanently or for a single outgoing call. In the UK, for example, the caller can withhold their number for the immediate call by preceding the number with 141 (in North America, *67), or more persistently by agreement with their telephone provider. To by-pass the withholding of a number on a line where the number is normally withheld, prefix the number with 1470. Some companies withhold their direct-line numbers when calling out, and in many government agencies it is a disciplinary offence to make a direct-line number available via this method.

In the UK, after dialling "1471", the called party can press "3" to automatically return the call. Until August 2004, this service was free; after that date, a flat fee of six pence was charged.
