Last.FM

Last.FM is a website and internet radio station designed to introduce people to new music. It is a sister site to and shares a music database with Audioscrobbler. Record labels and artists are encouraged to allow Last.FM to play their music because it will, in theory, increase album sales.

Last.FM contains several features that don't appear on Audioscrobbler, such as a database editor, easier navigation to linked profiles (such as friends and musical neighbours), information on individual users' favourite albums and the top 100 most played tracks/artists, as opposed to Audioscrobbler's top 50.

Last.FM and Audioscrobbler both provide recommended artists, but there are differences in the information provided by the two websites. Audioscrobbler provides information on which artists are "under-appreciated" by the user, together with a list of similar artists that the user has very rarely listened to. However, Last.FM displays similar artists that have almost been missed entirely, as well as individual albums that have been missed despite interest in the artist. These albums are on the Last.FM system and thus allows Last.FM users to listen to previews.

Last.FM broadcasts in 128 kbit/s 44.1 kHz MP3 format.
