Laascaanood

Laascaanood or Lasanod is the administrative city of Sool, Somalia. The city was part of the former British Somaliland which gained independence from Britain on 26 June 1960. Lasanod was at the center of a border dispute between the self-declared but yet to be recognized Republic of Somaliland and the regional administration of Puntland. Tension between the two has recently escalated.
