Lake Butler is a census-designated place and an unincorporated area, completely surrounding the Town of Windermere, located in Orange County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the area had a total population of 7,062.
Geography
Lake Butler is located at 28°29'52" North, 81°31'56" West (28.497881, -81.532311)1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 53.1 km² (20.5 mi²). 33.5 km² (12.9 mi²) of it is land and 19.5 km² (7.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 36.80% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 7,062 people, 2,255 households, and 2,009 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 210.6/km² (545.4/mi²). There are 2,451 housing units at an average density of 73.1/km² (189.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 89.75% White, 3.41% African American, 0.14% Native American, 3.91% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.74% from other races, and 2.02% from two or more races. 4.67% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,255 households out of which 49.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 82.0% are married couples living together, 4.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 10.9% are non-families. 8.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.13 and the average family size is 3.32.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 32.5% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 27.2% from 45 to 64, and 6.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 98.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.5 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP is $113,819, and the median income for a family is $113,863. Males have a median income of $89,507 versus $43,864 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $49,696. 1.8% of the population and 1.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 1.7% of those under the age of 18 and 3.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
