Klaus-Dietrich Flade

Klaus-Dietrich Flade (born August 23 1952) is a German pilot and former cosmonaut.

Born in Büdesheim, Germany, he joined the German Air Force after school. First getting education as a plane engineer, he studied chemistry at the military university Munich 1976–1980. Afterwards he became a pilot, 1988–1989 he got trained as a testpilot. In October 1990 he was selected as part of the German astronaut team for the Mir'92 flight.

After two years of training he flew as Research cosmonaut on Soyuz TM-14 in March 1992. After his spaceflight he returned to the Air Force. He is now test pilot at Airbus Industrie.
