Kisatchie National Forest
Kisatchie National Forest is located in the piney hills and hardwood bottoms of seven central and northern Louisiana parishes. It is divided into five managed units that are called Ranger Districts that total over 604,000 acres (2,440 km²) of public lands. Hidden in the bayous underneath the bald cypress groves and old growth pine lies a world of natural beauty, excitement, learning, recreation, resources and wildlife in their purest forms. Kisatchie National Forest provides opportunity for many kinds of recreation activities including: camping, picnic, swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, hunting, horseback riding, off-highway vehicle use, nature study, sightseeing, and road & mountain bicycle riding. The forest offers more than 40 developed recreation sites and over 100 miles (160 km) of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
