Kirloskarwadi

Kirloskarwadi is the birthplace of Kirloskar Industries. This is the place where Mr. Laxmanrao Kirloskar started his first factory. The first factory made farm implements like ploughs, threshers etc.

Today Kirloskarwadi is an industrial colony situated around the factory Kirloskar Brothers Ltd. The factory manufactures pumps, valves and other fluid handling products. The colony for the factory employees is very well planned. Its residential area is very scenic with well planned roads, buildings, and abundant greenery. The colony has a highschool (Kirloskar High School), subsidized by the Kirloskars and operated by Sangli Shikshan Sanstha; and junior college. It has good sports facilities like a cricket club, tennis courts, golf course and swimming pool. It has a small market place and grocery store and a well equipped hospital for the colony residents. A small library started by donations from the colony residents has a significant number of Marathi, Hindi and English books and periodicals. The colony also has its own postoffice and PIN code (equivalent of a ZIP code in USA).

Kirloskarwadi is surrounded mostly by agricultural area. Palus, Kundal and Ramanandnagar are the nearest towns. The Kirloskarwadi railway station is situated on the Pune -Kolhapur railway route. It is the nearest railway stations for nearby towns like Palus, Kundal, Ramanandnagar, Burli etc.
