Kimberly Goss
Kimberly Goss is the vocalist from the band Sinergy, and before starting her own band she sung in Ancient and was the touring keyboard player of Dimmu Borgir and Therion. She was once engaged to the notorious guitarist Alexi Laiho, who is the lead guitarist of Sinergy and Children of Bodom.
Kimberly started her career in music very early, debuting as a singer for the undergound band Avernus at the age of fourteen. The band wasn't a serious project, and they played mostly for fun, but in one of their gigs, the better-known band Ancient invited her to sing in their then upcoming album. At the time she was sixteen. However, playing with Ancient wasn't something she enjoyed very much, as she quit the band soon after the recording of the album. She refers to the band members of the band as unprofessional and childish. After she quit the band, many lies were spread about her by the guitarist known simply as Aphazel, who nowadays has quit the heavy metal scene. As she quit the band, she became Therion's touring keyboard player; to her this was the point in which her professional career truly started.
Her musical influences draw mostly from her mother, who is a fan of bands such as Alice Cooper and Van Halen, and is also a talented jazz singer. However, her singing style was mostly influenced by Iron Maiden, Heart and My Dying Bride.
In the male-dominated scene of the time, Kimberly fit in better than most would have expected. According to her, she was never into activities typically associated with girls, and preferred doing sports and listening to death metal.
Even though she is an intelligent and self-assured woman, Kimberly quit school at an early age to pursue her musical career. She also traveled a lot; being born in Chicago, moving to Japan, going back to the United States and living in at least four different cities. When she was about seventeen, she left America and moved to Europe, where she lived in Norway, Sweden and finally took residence in Finland.
Kimberly currently has plan to release a new Sinergy album some time in 2005.
