Kid Creole & the Coconuts

Kid Creole & the Coconuts is a American band created and led by Dominican/French Canadian August "Kid Creole" Darnell. Their music incorporates styles like big band jazz, disco, and in particular Caribbean/Latin American salsa.

The band's debut album was the heavily disco-influenced "Off the Coast of Me" (1980). Follow-ups included "Fresh Fruit in Foreign Places" (1981), "Tropical Gangsters" (1982), and "I, Too, Have Seen the Woods" (1987). Notable hits include "Annie, I'm Not your Daddy" and "Stool Pigeon".

He now resides in the Dinnington area of South Yorkshire.
