Key Bible verse

In Christian faith and doctrine, many people have identified key Bible verses (snippets of scripture which were arbitrarily numbered in the 16th century) which they believe reveal the nature of God and his dealings with man. While some Bible verses may be more significant to some groups of believers than to others due to denominational differences, there are many scriptures which may be considered as "key" due to how frequently they are cited either in doctrinal statements, such as the Westminster Confession of Faith, or more current Christian writings. One such key Bible verse is "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16 (NASB)
