Kessel-Lo
Kessel-Lo, a municipality of Leuven. Population approximately 26,000. Bordered by Holsbeek, Lubbeek, and several other municipalities that are part of Leuven (including Leuven proper, Heverlee, Wijgmaal).
Its name is derived from "Kessel" ('bowl' or 'vale') and "Lo" (forest); thus, it means "forested valley."
Home to the "Provinciaal Domein Kessel-Lo," a large provincially owned park with ponds, playgrounds, soccer fields, etc. Also interesting is Vlierbeek, an old Benedictine Abbey built in 1125.
