Kappa Kappa Gamma

Kappa Kappa Gamma' was founded on October 13th, 1870 at Monmouth College. The badge is represented by the Golden Key. Kappa Kappa Gamma's other symbols include the owl and the fleur de lis.

The key was adopted as the sorority's symbol when the six founders marched into a chapel at Monmouth wearing golding keys in their hair. In addition to its other symbols, the sorority is represented with the colors dark blue and light blue, and with the sapphire. Currently, there are chapters in both the United States and Canada. The most recent chapter brought the total number of Kappa Kappa Gamma chapters at higher learning institutions up to 131. Since its founding in 1870, there have been more than 200,000 members, including designer Kate Spade, actress Sophia Bush and many presidential first ladies.

Kappa Kappa Gamma is technically organized as a fraternity, but since it admits only women it is often called as a sorority. Kappa Kappa Gamma is also referred to as "KKG" and "KAPPA"
