Kain Tapper

Kain Tapper (1930-2004) is a Finnish sculptor. He

• [creates] works [that] are "remote", evoking things contemplated from a distance. Even when small, his pieces loom like menhirs, their massiveness imposing an inhuman scale¹
• combines nature and natural phenomina, old folklore and modernism.²
• epitomises the Informalist style in Finnish sculpture³

Kain Tapper has created a sculpture of Finnish poet Ilmari Kianto situated near Turja's Castle in Suomussalmi.⁴
