Kai Hansen

Kai Hansen, referred to by many as the 'grandfather' of European power metal, was the co-founder, guitarist and first singer for Helloween, until his departure in 1988-89. After working in the recording studio with Blind Guardian, he formed the power metal band Gamma Ray in 1989. In 1996 Hansen also began playing guitar in another band, Iron Savior, but a few years after, he decided to leave to refocus his efforts in Gamma Ray.
