Jonas Valley lies in the Ilm district, convenient between Crawinkel and Arnstadt, became in the last war years of the Second World War the sad scene of the national socialism. Ten thousands of prisoners of the concentration camp beech forest drove 25 lugs in the Jonastal under strictest secrecy into the mountain.
